IMPORTANT:
- MANDATED BY THE TOWN oF WESTPORT , CJSA & US YOUTH SOCCER, ALL ADULT VOLUNTEERS & COACHING STAFF (returning & new) MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE REQUIREMENTS BELOW IF THEY INTEND TO COACH, ASST COACH OR MANAGE A TEAM THIS FALL 2024
- IF YOU ARE A 1st TIME VOLUNTEER, ALLOW UP TO 4 HOURS TO COMPLETE ALL THE TRAINING. DO NOT WAIT!
- IF YOU ARE A RETURN VOLUNTEER, YOU WILL NEED TO RENEW YOUR SAFESPORT and possibly BGC & NAYS MEMBERSHIP DUES
- ONCE YOU REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON THE WSA SITE, YOUR COMPLIANCE/COACHING APPROVAL STATUS WILL APPEAR ON THE VOLUNTEER TRACKER (LINK ABOVE). List updates every 48 hours.
- THE SOONER YOUR COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING, THE SOONER WSA CAN FORM TEAMS.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO BECOME A COACH, ASST COACH OR TEAM MANAGER:
STEP 1: REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON THE WSA WEBSITE
(duration 5-10 minutes)
- Log into www.westportsoccer.org
(new users must create a new account)
(current users log in to your existing account)
- Hover over your account Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account.
(or click button "manage acounts" then "view account" )
- Click Volunteer on the left side of page;
- Choose Find Volunteer Roles
- Follow the registration steps, choose your volunteer role(s) and complete forms.
- Upload any training certificates you have. If you do not have any certificates, don't worry, continue to Step 2 below.
STEP 2: SUBMIT A CJSA BACKGROUND CHECK (RISK STATUS)
(duration 5-10 minutes)

- Log into your account on www.westportsoccer.org
- Hover over your Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account.
or click Manage Account>View Account
- Click on Volunteer on the left vertifcal menu bar to display My Roles&Certificates
- Select the box next to Risk Status and then click Renew & Update
- Follow prompts and answer required questions and SUBMIT

STEP 3: COMPLETE SAFESPORT TRAINING
All prior soccer season SS certificates will expire Aug 1.**
**SS certificates completed July 2-31, 2024, save and send to [email protected] for approval.
**SS certificates completed after August 1, 2024 will automatically upload to CJSA for approval.
(duration is 90 min for 1st time core training or 30 min for a refresher)
(if you've completed 3 refreshers, you will need to complete the 90 min training again)
(Expires yearly after each spring season.)
- Log into your account on www.westportsoccer.org
- Hover over your Profile Image on the top right of the page and select Account (or click my account/manage/view account)
- Click on Volunteer on the left menu bar to display My Roles & Certificates
- Select the box next to SafeSport and then click Renew & Update
- You will be prompted to Login or Register with SafeSport
- Complete the SafeSport Training or Refresher
This includes a 90-min video for New Vols or a 30-min refresher for Return Vols
or if you already completed 3 prior refreshers, then complete the 90 minute training again.
- The system will automatically update your completion status with CJSA
- If you already have a SafeSport certificate, you can upload it or send to [email protected]

If you already completed a SafeSport certificate from another sport or directly within the SS website:
You can download your certificate from your SafeSport account:
- https://safesporttrained.org/#/public-dashboard
- Click on the hamburger icon in the top right corner
- Click on transcripts
- Click on certificates
- You should see a list of certificate to download.
- Send the certificate to [email protected] and the registrar will upload to CJSA for approval.
STEP 4: COMPLETE (or Renew) NAYS COACH MEMBERSHIP & NAYS SOCCER COACH CERTIFICATION (for asst & head coaches only)
membership requires completing the soccer coach training (membership expires yearly, training does not)

Returning NAYS members
log into: https://www.nays.org/ and renew your annual membership dues or any other training
Are you new to NAYS?
Go to NAYS Coach Training scroll down the page and click the green "Register/Login" button
Create a NAYS account (affiliated organization is "Westport Soccer Association")
Important: You want to select NAYS COACH (not parent) for training:
- Complete the 3-part coach training to receive a NAYS coach certificate (this training does not expire):
1)Basic Youth Sport Safety & First Aid Training ($7.50)
2)Coaching Youth Sports ($7.50)
3) Sport Specific Training - Coach Youth Soccer 10 & Under ($5.00)
Upload your NAYS certificate to your volunteer account on www.westportsoccer.org
If your NAYS membership expired
log in to www.nays.org and renew your membership for an annual $20 fee or multiple year fee.
STEP 5: COMPLETE CONCUSSION TRAINING (NAYS or CDC HeadsUp is acceptable)
(training certificate does not expire) training is FREE
(training duration 20-30 minutes)

STEP 6: COMPLETE online CPR CERTIFICATE (free) - one adult needed per team.
